But, hopefully I have some helpful tips for your project or can motivate you to try your hands at upholstery \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is one of my two red chairs. \u00a0I bought them on KSL for $40 buck-a-roonies. \u00a0Sweet deal!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0151.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1627  aligncenter\" title=\"IMG_0151\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0151.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">This is what I turned this lovely find into. \u00a0Meet Mr. Blue Chair.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Untitled-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1635\" title=\"Untitled-2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Untitled-2-500x333.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Untitled-2-500x333.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Untitled-2.jpg 587w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Here are the tools and tips that helped me get from red to &#8220;Mr. Blue&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_9798.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1652\" title=\"IMG_9798\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_9798.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_9557.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1644\" title=\"IMG_9557\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_9557.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Tools!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Upholstery\u00a0hammer<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Rubber Mallet<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Needle nose\u00a0pliers<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Flat head screw driver<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Air\u00a0compressor\u00a0and an upholstery staple\/nail gun<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Tip!<\/strong> You can get a\u00a0upholstery\u00a0gun at Harbor Fraight\u00a0 Tools starting at $50. \u00a0The best one you can get is called Rainco. \u00a0These are around $150-200. \u00a0This is the brand actually upholster&#8217;s use. \u00a0 I HIGHLY recommend at least getting the $50 dollar one. \u00a0The staples are much better to use,\u00a0especially\u00a0if you mess up and need to take a staple out. \u00a0The guns\/staples used for wood will be really hard if not impossible to take out.)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Staples and finishing nails<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Upholstery tack strip (I&#8217;ll show to a picture of this below)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Plygrip (Picture of this above &#8220;tools list&#8221; and explained in Upholstery Part Two)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Roll of cardboard strip. (Can get at Jo-Ann&#8217;s)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Depending on chair- Sewing machine<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Scissors<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Pen- for marking old fabric pieces<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0174.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1633\" title=\"IMG_0174\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0174.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>First Step:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Getting Ready <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>My Tips-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">1. \u00a0Before you take apart your chair, sit in it. \u00a0Does it feel comfortable? \u00a0Will you need more padding in certain areas? \u00a0How firm is the seat and the back? \u00a0Decide if you want to add more padding and where. \u00a0Write it down!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">2. Set up a work station. \u00a0A place you can cut fabric, sew, a table to set the chair on, and to sit and breath \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">3. \u00a0Take a before picture. \u00a0You will want to show off your transformation! \u00a0And say, &#8220;Look what I did with my\u00a0bad-self! Yooza!&#8221; &#8230;.yeah you know \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">4. \u00a0Buy some\u00a0caffeinated\u00a0soda. \u00a0I never drink\u00a0caffeine, but I drink 1\/3 of two cases of diet coke during this process. \u00a0\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_9539.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1640\" title=\"IMG_9539\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_9539.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0155.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Second \u00a0Step:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Taking apart your chair<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>My tips- <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">1. \u00a0Just go for it! \u00a0But&#8230;be kinda gentle. \u00a0You want to take pictures along the way and keep all the\u00a0pieces\u00a0intact\u00a0as best you can. \u00a0This will be your pattern for putting it all back together.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">2. \u00a0Take note of the hardware that is coming off your\u00a0piece\u00a0and where it went. \u00a0 In the picture above is a piece of tack strip. \u00a0You can buy this from an\u00a0upholstery\u00a0fabric store and sometimes\u00a0straight\u00a0from an upholstery shop (if they are nice and share that stuff). \u00a0It is usually a better price there than at a fabric store. \u00a0Jo-Ann fabric&#8217;s does not carry this stuff ladies. Call around!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">3. \u00a0Needle nose pliers and your screw driver will come in handy here.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">4. Label each piece as you remove it. \u00a0Keep notes of the order pieces are coming off.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0154.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1628\" title=\"IMG_0154\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0154.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/barebones.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1626\" title=\"barebones\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/barebones.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"468\" height=\"374\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Third Step:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Before you put it back together <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>My tips-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">1. \u00a0If there is anything you want to change about the wood legs or arms, do it now. \u00a0Paint, sand and stain. \u00a0Do it before you start putting fabric back on \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">2. Get all the staples out that you can. \u00a0If you can&#8217;t get them out pound them in. \u00a0You don&#8217;t want any sticking out that could snag your fabric or poke you.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">3. \u00a0 Cut out your new fabric pieces and set them in a stack with it&#8217;s labeled old fabric piece. Watch which direction your are cutting your fabric, you will want it to all go the same direction. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">4. \u00a0Add any padding you feel you need. \u00a0I added a little on the arms, the seat, and the back. \u00a0I bought some heavy quilt batting and used a glue spray to adhere it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_9534.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Fourth Step:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Putting it back together<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>My tips-<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">1. \u00a0Hopefully you took note of how it came off. \u00a0Check the last thing on your list and start there. \u00a0For me it was the arms and the wings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">2. \u00a0Lay your first pieces on. \u00a0Check how they are laying and make sure the direction of your fabric is the same on both sides.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">3. \u00a0Start to staple! \u00a0Pull fabric tight! \u00a0AND be very careful!!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">4. \u00a0If something needs pleats\/folds, make sure you are doing the same number of them on both sides of the chair. \u00a0Like the front of my chair arms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_9536.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1637\" title=\"IMG_9536\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_9536.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0172.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0172.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1631\" title=\"IMG_0172\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/IMG_0172.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">There are a lot of tips to give!
