Watch Out Now!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-322\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=322\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-322\" title=\"watercolorpic copy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/watercolorpic-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"587\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/watercolorpic-copy.jpg 587w, https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/watercolorpic-copy-500x340.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 587px) 100vw, 587px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Last Christmas I thought I would be such a cool Aunt and make superhero capes.\u00a0 I made one of each of my 7 nieces and nephews, plus\u00a0 two more for my kids.\u00a0\u00a0 I was and still am very proud of myself for this, even though most of them didn&#8217;t quite get it yet (totally didn&#8217;t care).\u00a0 Someday they will be glad they have capes \ud83d\ude42\u00a0\u00a0 I probably should have waited till they were 3 or maybe even 5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Anywhoo&#8230;here&#8217;s how I made them!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><strong>If you can sew a straight line you can do this!!<\/strong> Don&#8217;t be intimated, YOU CAN DO IT!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Here is what you will need:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">A Sewing Machine<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Scissors<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Pins<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Measuring tape<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Some tissue paper\/pattern paper to make pattern<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Chalk<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Iron<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Heat-and-Bond-sewable<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">John Mayer on your radio\/iPod\/CD player \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Tracing paper or a Cricut machine<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Velcro<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">3\/4 of a yard of fabric for each-front and back <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">You will probably want 3-4 different fabrics.\u00a0 One for inside of cape, one for main part,\u00a0 one solid for shape<\/span><span style=\"color: #993366;\"> (12&#215;12 piece of fabric)<\/span><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">,<\/span> and one solid for letter (5&#215;5 piece)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-162\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=162\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-162\" title=\"Materials\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Materials.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">The first thing you will want to do is make a pattern.\u00a0 I do this by taking a piece of tissue paper and drawing my lines with chalk. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-161\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=161\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-161\" title=\"tracing-pattern\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/tracing-pattern.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">It will look like half a cape when you are done with this step.\u00a0 I make it 10 1\/2 inches to the widest part of the cape and 21 inches long, but you can make it as long as you need.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t feel like you have to stick to these measurements, they are just guidelines.\u00a0 Adjust them to fit your child.\u00a0 I made several different sizes.\u00a0 I usually kept the width though, seemed to work for every body size up to age 6.\u00a0 See Picture below for the neck measurements. Those also work for everyone.\u00a0 Feel free to change them if you don&#8217;t like them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><a rel=\"attachment style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Cut out pattern and pin it to fabric.\u00a0 Using the edge of the pattern as the fold line.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: your 12&#215;12 piece of fabric for your shape and your 5&#215;5 piece for the letter and apply the Heat and Bond on the back of these fabrics.\u00a0 Then cut out your star, lightning bolt, star burst, flower, etc. and letter.\u00a0 I used my Cricut machine, but you could all so just trace the shape you want and cut it out yourself. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-170\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=170\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-170\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=170\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"ironon\" src=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/ironon.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">For the Cricut peel the paper for the Heat and Bond off the back, place the fabric on the cutting mat, and load it in.\u00a0 You will want your settings to be:\u00a0 Blade depth-3 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 Speed- low \u00a0\u00a0 Pressure- med\/high \u00a0 (you do not need a deep-cut blade for this)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Okay now you are going to iron on the shape and letter on to your fabric.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-164\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=164\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-164\" title=\"ironletters\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/ironletters.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Now to secure it better and make it look a little more cute, you will top stitch over the shape and letter.\u00a0 I used a zigzag stitch, I thought it was the easiest way to go and looked nice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-165\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=165\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-167\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=167\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">After you have finished this you can sew your back and front piece together.\u00a0 Place right sides in, pin in place, and sew.\u00a0 Sew from the bottom corner up around neck and down to the opposite bottom corner; leaving the bottom of the cape open so you can flip it right sides out.\u00a0 Before you flip it you will want to make sure that you have clipped around the neck to help prevent puckering. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-171\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=171\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-171\" title=\"cuttingneck\" #993366;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">After you flip it back you will need to use an object that has a pointed and rounded tip (I used the end of a paint brush) to push the neck ends all the way out like so&#8230;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-174\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=174\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-174\" title=\"neck\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/neck.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Then iron the edges of the cape. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-177\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?attachment_id=177\"><img loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Fold and pin the bottom of the cape.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-176\" #993366;\">Now, with your sewing machine, top stitch a straight stitch around the entire cape<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-175\" the scratchy side on the top of the<\/span><span style=\"color: #993366;\"> bottom<\/span><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\"> <\/span>flap.\u00a0 I put an extra long fuzzy piece on so that the cape can grow with my child.\u00a0 (Hope that all made sense) <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #993366;\">Sew the Velcro.<br
