{"id":1296,"date":"2011-02-14T00:34:25","date_gmt":"2011-02-14T00:34:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?p=1296"},"modified":"2011-03-02T22:41:34","modified_gmt":"2011-03-02T22:41:34","slug":"etching-glass-how-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/?p=1296","title":{"rendered":"Etching Glass How To"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Etching glass may seem a little scary, but it&#8217;s actually very easy and fast.\u00a0 My favorite kind of craft!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Here&#8217;s a candy jar I am making for the hubs for Valentine&#8217;s Day.\u00a0 I etched &#8220;Be Mine&#8221; on it and filled it with a few different kinds of M&amp;M&#8217;s.\u00a0 I am not going crazy this year for V-day, so I hope he likes it.\u00a0 He will probably just be happy I didn&#8217;t much spend money.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42\u00a0 Men&#8230; hahaha<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Here&#8217;s how to etch glass!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1265.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1302\" title=\"IMG_1265\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1265.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">First find your glass.\u00a0 I also like to etch my pyrex baking dishes with my name.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1204.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1300\" title=\"IMG_1204\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Next you will cut your letter&#8217;s or image out of clear removable contact paper.\u00a0 I can only ever find this at Walmart.\u00a0 If using my cricut, I place the paper side down on the mat. This way I don&#8217;t have to worry about flipping the image\/letters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1249.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1303\" title=\"IMG_1249\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1249.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I use the Plantin SchoolBook font when I cut the letters for my bakeware.\u00a0 I would cut at 1 inch for longer names, 1 1\/4 for 5-7 letter names, and 1 1\/2 inch for shorter names.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">For &#8220;Be Mine&#8221;\u00a0 I used the Opposites Attract font at 1 1\/2<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">To cut the contact paper I have my depth at 2, pressure 4 and my speed at 4.\u00a0 I cut all the way through the contact paper.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1249.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1250.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1304\" title=\"IMG_1250\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1250.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I think Armor etch works the best.\u00a0 If you live in San Diego, you can&#8217;t buy this at Michael&#8217;s anymore.\u00a0 You will need to go to Value Craft.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1258.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1307\" title=\"IMG_1258\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1258.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I then peel the paper off my cut letters and place them on my glass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1251.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1305\" title=\"IMG_1251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1251.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1256.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1297\" title=\"IMG_1256\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lynnspin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/IMG_1256.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Then I put on gloves (cuz the armor etch will burn your skin, Yikes!
